What ingredients to look for (and eliminate from) your skincare routine?
Aluminum: Start looking for body wash and deodorant with aluminum-free labels. Because even if aluminum is capable of reducing sweat and odors, the fact that it is likely a carcinogen and a possible contributor to many various diseases.
Parabens: Parabens help to make your products last longer and are often used as a preservative. But they can speed up the development of cancer and have been found to cause breast cancer, fertility issues and hormonal imbalances. It can also be found as phenoxyethanol, so keep an eye out for that.
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate: These are used to make the “foam” that we’ve come to familiarize ourselves with. Unfortunately, this is also a carcinogen and serves no purpose or benefit. It will only exacerbates and irritates skin.
It’s so crucial to know what is going in your ingredients + formulas so that you know what’s going into your skin. Like food, what we consume and applet on our complexions will leave a long term effect.
